Delivery Operations
The operating layer that turns a sold engagement into a finished deliverable — resource deployment, capacity visibility, project tracking, QA, and reporting, run as a repeatable system.
Also known as: Delivery Ops · Agency Delivery Operations · Project Ops
Full definition
Delivery operations is the operating layer that makes an agency's delivery function run without the founder in the middle. It covers three layers: (A) planning and resourcing — scoping, staffing, capacity visibility, timeline feasibility; (B) control and visibility — project tracking, blocker management, reporting cadence; (C) quality and throughput — QA review, launch control, overflow capacity. For founder-led agencies between $500K and $5M in revenue, delivery operations is typically the first function that should be extracted from the founder's plate — before any C-level operator is hired.
When this matters
Most agencies recognize they need delivery operations when the founder spends 20+ hours per week on coordination, QA, or status chasing — and revenue has plateaued because the founder is the bottleneck rather than the growth driver.
Commonly confused with
Delivery operations is often confused with project management. Project management runs one project. Delivery operations runs the system that every project goes through. A project manager is a role within delivery operations, not a substitute for it.
